What the number means

This is the spot price of gold (XAU/USD) — the global benchmark. Your broker's price sits a few units either side because of the spread. Use it to size a trade or check margin.

FAQ

Common questions

Where does the live gold price on this page come from?

It is built from wholesale XAU/USD quotes aggregated across the interbank market, refreshed as those quotes update. It is a reference feed for reading the market, not an order book you can trade against. Your broker's executable price is the only one that matters for fills.

Why is my broker's gold quote different from the price here?

Because a broker quotes a tradable price, not a mid-market one. Its quote includes the spread and reflects its own liquidity, and it may lag or lead our feed by seconds. Small differences are normal; a large or persistent gap usually means thin liquidity or a fast market.

Is the live price shown in AED or USD?

The feed is in USD per ounce, the standard for XAU/USD. To see it in dirhams, multiply by the USD/AED rate your bank or broker applies, which may differ slightly from the pegged rate. Remember that your trade's profit or loss is converted at your broker's rate, not ours.

Does the live price include the spread I will pay?

No. It is a reference mid, so the price you buy at will be higher and the price you sell at lower, by whatever spread your account carries. That spread depends on your broker, account type and market conditions, and it can widen sharply around news and at the weekly open.

Why does the gold price sometimes freeze or jump on this page?

It can pause when the underlying market is closed, such as the daily break or the weekend, and it can jump when a new quote arrives after a quiet stretch or a news release. Treat any single tick with suspicion and confirm against your broker before acting.
